Get Rid of Shelters!
International dog-training guru Dr Ian Dunbar has a challenge for dog-lovers all around the world – get rid of pounds and shelters!
Speaking exclusively with Pet Talk Radio! on his recent visit down-under, Dunbar asked Aussies why we continue to spend so much time, money and resources trying to re-home dogs with behavioural problems – in effect, going about the problem of unwanted pets from the wrong end?
Largely regarded as the 'father' of positive reinforcement dog training and author of numerous books on dog behaviour, Dunbar says the alternative to the ever-increasing unwanted pet problem is fast, simple and cheap!
Check out how easy it is to be part of Dunbar's global survival campaign by listening to this story.
Then how about joining us in our online forum and telling us what you think of Ian Dunbar's positive reinforcement training? Have we been doing things the wrong way?

At the time of publication our planned interview with Dr Ian
had to be postponed. We will add that here when we have
recorded it - hopefully soon!

Ways to Cope with Wacky Weather

Australia's weather has been crazy over the past few months. Floods in Queensland, snow in Melbourne and then the tragic bushfires, then just as suddenly, another cold snap followed by a heatwave.
While Pet Talk Radio! doesn't normally discuss the weather, we do when it affects our animals. It's not just cows, sheep and horses who spend their time outdoors. We have had personal experience with our own dog Cosmo – so absolutely terrified of storms to the point he just couldn't function!
With plenty of animals of his own to look after, Dr Harry Cooper has experienced first-hand the strange new weather patterns.
Listen as he sheds some light on what the future holds if these conditions continue.

Why Won't My Dogs Listen?
"Fido come. Fido COME. FIDO C.O.M.E!!!" Sound familiar?
Do you have a dog with selective hearing? Why is it you never have to call your dog when the treat bag is accidentally rustled or the toaster pops at breakfast time?
We get a lot of questions at Pet Talk Radio! but most of these concern jumping, digging, barking – you know, the usual stuff!
One very concerned listener wants to know why all her friends' dogs seem to listen to them, but her two Dachies don't seem to listen to her at all – to anything she says!
Listen to what animal trainer Steve Austin suggests in this segment.
Does your dog listen to you? Or does he or she only listen when it suits them?
