What Happened To The Radio Show? |
|

|
From July 2008 we are changing the
way we present Pet Talk Radio!
For
the last year or so we have been thinking about what we do and
how we are presenting the news and information we provide to
pet owners.
We've now produced around 285 hour long radio shows over almost six years
non-stop!
But to be honest, without
national sponsorship (ie; financial support) of the broadcast version of the show, it
is physically and financially very difficult for us to
continue in exactly the same way.
The really good news is that our website and iTunes feeds have literally gone 'through the
roof' indicating to us that this is a preferred medium for a
lot of pet owners. But we've also realised many people just
listen to one or two stories of interest or read what we have
to say about a story rather than listen to the whole thing.
That's fine - we're all a little 'time poor' these days.
So we've started to develop a whole lot of new and innovative ideas that are hard to translate
into a 'weekly radio show'.
Stay tuned to see and hear some of those ideas on this website
and in your mailbox. And we'll also be rewarding long-time
listeners and website visitors. More on that soon.
With the addition of several new professional writers, we'll
also be expanding our written material into a virtual
magazine - our web stats show you also love to read about our
audio stories and general information pages so
we'll be writing more for you.
This won't be to compete with
traditional pet & animal magazines... they too have their
role and serve a varied pet & animal loving audience In
fact our own sponsors DogsLIFE Magazine and
others will play a key role in how we share and distribute
stories in future.
We're still looking at stories that involve video. Some will
be for the
website and some for mainstream television (our bread & butter!) and
we'll still be creating the radio show' - just in a revised
form.
Strictly speaking it will be a 'podcast'... in fact we used to
call them 'petcasts' when we first did an on-line radio show
back in 2001 !!
But no matter what name we give it, Pet Talk Radio! is
continuing and along with our wonderful Associate Producer
Wendy Herne (who by the way is a former newspaper editor!)
we hope to soon grow even bigger and better than before.
About Our Feature Story...
Each week - or as stories occur - we'll now be bringing you a 'Featured
Story'.
Where our 'old format' show was four or five stories with a pet news,
the feature story will either be a stand-alone story or a
response from a previous week's story.
And we hope you will also contribute to these stories - just
let us know what you are interested in and we'll do our
best to follow it up for you.
We'll also be bringing you pet and animal news as we continue
our service to Animal Radio in the US via the XM Radio
Satellite service. And if you are an Aussie business with
international links - we can get you on the XM bird to a potential
audience of 8 million subscribers!
But don't forget we have hundreds of hours of archived radio
shows with plenty of timeless information for all kinds of
pets and animals.
